Welcome to Cherryfield College, a full boarding school that focuses on cognitive learning and also prides itself in ensuring that every student is involved in extracurricular activities which refresh and boost their mental and physical wellbeing. Our students participate in internal, external, local and international activities and competitions. These activities range from inter-house debate competitions, spelling bees, Commonwealth competitions, Model United Nations conferences, which all contribute to students in the art of public speaking and critical thinking; to sports competitions such as football, basketball and race tracks which enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of our students all forming a holistic curricular.
We have in place; hands-on guidance and counseling that deals with choices in academic pursuit and also helps shape students dealing with behavioral issues. At Cherryfield College we are interested in academic excellence and also in moral excellence.
In September 2004, the gate of this citadel of learning was flung open to 96 students drawn from different parts of the country. At the gate of the welcome team was the pioneer British Principal, Mr. Robert Parkin. The current Principal is Mr. Neil Howie. The college has witnessed astronomical growth in student population and staff strength since its inception. Now the college has a population of 300 students. As usual, the student population’s growth necessitated an equivalent growth in the staff population.
Today, the college has over 150 experienced and qualified staff. Out of this, 71 are teaching staff. The school has a Board of Directors and a Board of Governors: The Board of Directors comprises Hon. Lt. Col. Akor JAC (rtd), Engr. John Agbara, Mr. Abah Agbara, and Mr. Stanley Ajenu, whilst the Board of Governors includes Prof. P. B. Onaji, Prof. I.A.O. Ujah mni, Mr. Raphael Odoh, Mr. John-Mary Idoko, and Barr. B. M. O. Enejoh.
